The Pallet Turner – Uses zero energy!

This pallet turner turns pallets 90 degrees. It is without any kind of connections so it is easily moved to the exact place where you need to handle pallets.

The automatic model is rotating the pallet as soon as the pallet is placed on the pallet turner. If you want to use this model it is important that the right fork on the truck or on the electric forklift is quite near to the pallet center block, so the pallet hits the right fork as soon as the pallet begins to rotate counterclockwise. In most cases the pallets will be rotated twithout any problem.

The remote controlled pallet turner does not rotate when the pallet is placed on the pallet turner. It will not start rotating before you have driven backwards with the truck or electric forklift and have pressed on the remote control. The operator does not need to be aware of how the forks are located in / under the pallet.

The History behind the Pallet Turner

There has been a need for this pallet turner for a long time if you have some kind of depth stacking shelves, maxi packer system or long side handled picking pallets. However, back in 2009 Hørup Maskiner A/S should solve a problem with too little space in a finished goods warehouse. Hørup Maskiner A/S solved it with depth stacking shelves which must be handled with an electrical stacker, since there is no room for big trucks. This created a great need for a pallet turner.

Hørup Maskiner A/S asked JBT Maskinværksted if it would be possible to develop this. JBT Maskinværksted soon went to work on drawing a prototype and came up with the solution which is sold today, and now that the pallet turner is finished it can be used in a lot of different places, every place where there is a need to switch between Long side->Short side, Short side->Long side. Today the pallet shall be long side handled in a picking warehouse so that as a maximum you shall pick 60-80 cm in depth.

When the pallets are delivered to the warehouse they are typically short side handled and therefore they must be turned before they is placed at the picking place, and this can now be done with an electrical stacker, which now only needs an driving aisle of app. 2.1 meter (smaller driving aisle = more pallet space)

Possibilities – advantages

If you have a picking warehouse, and the pallets are delivered short side handled on a lorry, in order for the picking depth not to exceed 80 cm the pallets are taken from the lorry with an electrical stacker, they are quickly turned on the pallet turner and placed at the picking spot. When this is done with an electrical stacker the driving aisle between the shelves needs only be app. 2.2 meters; the result of this is more pallets per m2 warehouse.

If you have picking pallets that are short side handled and the back of the warehouse is short side handled, the pallet is easily and quickly turned when the picking pallet is to be filled.
If you have a finished goods warehouse which is placed on depth stacking shelves, and you want to load the lorry short side handled when the goods are sent, then the pallet is easily and quickly turned on the pallet turner.

If you have a general need for handling pallets from both sides, you gain great advantages with a pallet turner, or if you think the pallet turner into new warehouse projects it may result in great cost savings.
