The Straw Machine

This selfloading Straw Machine can handle tasks where traditional straw machines must give up, for example in binding stables, bed bays, calving boxes, calf huts etc. The Straw Machine is delivered with top or bottom output

HS MBK

For 90x90cm mini big bale or smaller, with bottom discharge is typically used in conventional cowsheds. This model is only chosen if discharge close to the ground is needed. Capacity 1/2 bale 4-6 min

The history behind Skovbo straw machine

Skovbo Straw Machine was developed and manufactured in 1999 by Jens Therkildsen in cooperation with Jens-Chr. Skovbo. At that time the farmer Jens-Chr. Skovbo had 50 cows in conventional housing, and he thought that the daily strawing could be done in an easier way. At that time straw machines only existed for small bales to be used in conventional housing. In connection with purchase of a mini loader Jens-Chr. wanted to develop a straw machine that could be mounted on the mini loader and at the same time avoid the time consuming small bales. Contact to Jens Therkildsen, who is a trained engineering worker, resulted in Skovbo Straw Machines.

Development

The first straw machine was ready for Agromek in the year 2000. The basic principle from the first straw machine has been kept, but through time a positive development has taken place so that today it appears as a strong user friendly and future-proof straw machine.

Production

Today manufacture of Skovbo Straw Machines takes place at JBT Maskinværksted which is owned by Jens Therkildsen. All the steel, which is to be laser cut, is supplied by a sub-supplier, after which welding of the machines is performed at their own workshop, Subsequently the machines are cleaned and painted at a local painter’s in order later to be assembled and mounted in the workshop, ready for delivery

New products

When improvements are to be made on the straw machine, or new products are developed, they are tested by Jens-Chr Skovbo. He currently has a livestock population of more than 100 cows in a stall with straw beds which provides ample opportunities for testing new initiatives so that new products go through thorough testing based on daily work at Jens-Chr.’s farm

About JBT Machine Shop

JBT Maskinværksted has existed since 1998, the first 10 years it was only a part-time company, when Jens Therkildsen, who owns the company, was full-time employed as a workman at a production company.

With us, ideas become reality. We develop and build our own and others' ideas for machines & special components.

If you need to put your idea into practice, let us take a non-committal talk about your project.
